May 10th - Brooklyn, Iowa

This week we will be heading to Brooklyn, Iowa!

Sharing a name with one of the five boroughs of New York City, this city of around 1,400 people (as of 2000) is known as the Community of Flags, and I'm sure you will be seeing a few flags in our photographs!

January 4th - Ankeny, Iowa

Well hopefully better late than never, here is the report and photos from our trip to Ankeny! Unfortunately both time and the weather were against us, but we both had a great time driving around town for a couple of hours in the afternoon taking pictures. We ended up with 13 usable shots from about 150 taken, and these have now been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons . In turn, 5 have been added to the Ankeny article on Wikipedia . February 8th - Cambridge, Iowa

Our destination this week is Cambridge, Iowa ! This city of around 819 (as of 2000) was established in 1856 and shares its name with two famous college towns; Cambridge in England with the second oldest University in the English speaking world, and Cambridge, Massachusetts which is home to Harvard and MIT. While the Iowa version of Cambridge cannot claim to have it's own college it is only a few miles away from Ames, home to Iowa State University. If I was really reaching for a reason to visit I could also say that Cambridge is the name of a song by one of my favourite bands, Motion City Soundtrack . But I'm not so I won't :-). April 19th - Stratford, Iowa

Here are this week's pictures from a sunny and windy Stratford, Iowa! It was great to see several references to their famous namesake in the United Kingdom (not one I called out in the original post of course!), Stratford-upon-Avon, including a Tudorbethan style Library and the main street through downtown being called Shakespeare Avenue. 14 shots were uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, with three added to the updated article on Wikipedia.
